This Week’s Curated Inbox: Magic Show, Period Cramp Simulator, and Anxiety Relief

Chauncey’s ears during a run last week while on vacation.

Have you felt the energy shifting around us? I know that everyone keeps talking about this New Moon in Leo — I’m a believer of astrology without ever truly fully understanding what “New Moon in Leo” actually means. BUT, I believe the energy is different around me and that momentum is building for all the good things.

This week’s Curated Inbox is a bit magical, literally and figuratively.

VIRTUAL MAGIC SHOW (BEST MAGIC SHOW)

My boyfriend is skilled at cardistry and grew up wanting to be a magician, so back in 2018 I took him to see The Magician with Dan White at The Nomad Hotel. It was one of the best live experiences I’ve ever been in the audience for. I watched it through the eyes of a kid who believed in magic, while my boyfriend saw it through the eyes of a fan of the craft in complete awe of how some of the tricks were done.

Through COVID, Dan White took his show online and I kid you not, the Zoom version is even better than the live show (how?! I still can’t wrap my head around it). He brings the magic directly into your living room. You get a box delivered to your door ahead of the show and it’s the most hands on experience ever. We’ve seen it twice on Zoom (a year apart) and I even bought it for a friend to experience recently and she raved about it.

Here’s Dan White is on Jimmy Fallon if you need to be sold on the investment.

Because I’m a frequent buyer, they sent a friends and families email with a discount code. You can use this code (289179) to get 15% off. It is so so worth the investment.

PERIOD SIMULATOR SHOWS MEN THE PAIN OF MENSTRUAL CRAMPS

I came across this recap videos on TikTok and LOVED it. Somedays, a period relief brand, hosted a period simulator activation where they invited men to experience level 1-10 of period cramps. It is worth the entire watch.

A WEIGHTED STUFFED ANIMAL

I posted this reel last week featuring Hugimals, a weighted stuffed animal that was sent to me by the company. It is a beautiful, perfect alternative to a weighted blanket both for adults and children. The arms are engineered to “hug” you when you hut it and the texture of the stuffed animal was specifically designed with sensory overload in mind.

NICOLLE GAYLON’S FIRST BORN ALBUM

I’ve had Nicolle Gaylon’s debut album First Born on repeat all week. I exist across so many different disciplines that it has sometimes felt hard finding a mentor to look up to. Gaylon’s career is one I admire and look up to a lot. She’s a songwriter in Nashville, the head of a recording label that uplifts women in country, a mom, a wife, and now the artist behind a memoir-debut album. I am obsessed. Here’s one of my favorite songs off the album.

THE OFFER

No spoiler alerts, please! We’re on episode 7 and my boyfriend had to go on a work trip, so now I have to wait until he’s back to finish watching, but holy smokes, this is an award season contender. Miles Teller is a revelation in The Offer. The entire story of what it took to make The Godfather has been wild to watch.
